Measure Extending Pharmacy Vaccinations To Children Passes House Committee

The House Health and Aging Committee on Wednesday advanced legislation that would increase the age range of Ohioans to whom pharmacists and pharmacy interns could administer immunizations.

The measure (HB 394) would lower the current minimum age of a patient who can receive certain vaccinations at pharmacies from 18 years old to seven years old. It also broadens the scope of pharmacy interns by allowing them to also administer vaccines.

HB 44 has been signed by Governor Kasich!
HB 44 would require the Department of Health, in coordination with other regulatory agencies like the Board of Pharmacy, to develop protocols that would allow pharmacists and pharmacy interns to dispense limited quantities of drugs without a written, oral, or electronic prescription during a declared public health emergency. Pharmacist Immunization Bill clears the House Health and Aging Committee

HB 394 that would allow pharmacists and pharmacy interns to administer vaccinations to patients older than age 7, has passed out of the House Health and Aging Committee.

The bill would authorize a pharmacist to administer an immunization included on the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended immunization schedule.  It would also authorize a pharmacy intern working under direct supervision to administer the same immunizations as a pharmacist.  Finally it lowers the minimum age of a person to whom ...

Governor Signs Bill to Clarify that Ohio Midwives May Sign Birth Certificates

Governor Kasich yesterday signed House Bill 95 to clarify in Ohio law that Ohio Certified Nurse Midwives may sign birth certificates. 

At the request of the Council for Ohio Health Care Advocacy, (COHCA) State Senator Shannon Jones amended language into HB 95 to clarify that Certified Nurse Midwives may sign the birth certificates of the babies they deliver in Ohio.
