Rules change for Hydrocodone as drug becomes a schedule II controlled substance

Effective October 6th, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration rescheduled hydrocodone combination products (HCPs) from Schedule III to the more-restrictive Schedule II list of controlled substances, as recommended by the Assistant Secretary from Health of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Cough syrups that contain hydrocodone are also now classified as schedule II controlled substances.
